Love Letter to Life 04.04.2024 Reigning Beauty

Dear Life, torrential rain and 28 mph wind gust didn’t stop us from going to New York City for the Macy’s flower show and shopping! An excellent day with my sister, Arlene Lawrence, and our friend, Michelle Connor. So much fun. Yours truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 03.31.2024 Happy Day

Dear Life, Laurel, my granddaughter, Tracy, my daughter, and I had a wonderful time together on Friday. Today there’s an Easter gathering for 24 family members of which six are under 7 years old. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, games, and a delicious feast. Time to hop and help with the preparations. I am grateful. Happy Easter to everyone!

Yours Truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 03.29.2024 Mother and Daughter

Dear Life, Arlene, my sister, took this photo. We do morph into our mothers: Rosie and I at lunch after going on a shopping spree. Mom has four new outfits. Still styling at 93. Today I have lunch with Tracy, my daughter, and my granddaughter, Laurel. This Easter vacation is filled with beauty and joy. I am doing the Happy Bunny Hop!

Love Letter to Life 03.26.2024 Portrait Wall

Dear Life, These drawings and paintings are up in the studio. They were created in 11 days. Note: It took me a little longer than God who created the world in 7 days.
I will travel tomorrow to CT for an Easter vacation. In some traditions, this is Holy Week. I am on a journey HOME. I go with an open heart, clear mind, and healthy body. Planes, trains, and automobiles will transport me to be with family and friends.
My greatest vehicle is Spirit. I am grateful and happy to be on the ride!
Yours Truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 3.24.2024 The Prompt

Dear Life, This is a prompt from The Isolation Journals:
“In Lyrical Ballads, William Wordsworth writes, “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.””
In my studio, I have the time and space to experience tranquility and creatively express “emotion recollected”. It is a spiritual and human practice of love. Today I will paint and draw then prepare the studio for a two week “Spring Break”. Campus is closed. I will let my wonderful “space” and all that is in it know that “I will be thinking of you and be back on April 7th”. I am going to CT to visit family and friends. Easter Tradition!
Yours Truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 03.22.2024 Invigorating

Dear Life, Having a studio outside my apartment is good. Getting ready to go there includes making a packed lunch and considering what I need for the day. Focus comes into play on how the day might unfold. I then enjoy the 18 minute drive. Mountains, plains, and big sky are my commuting companions. Once I’m on the college campus, the walk from parking lot to studio is invigorating. Throughout the day, I walk all over the campus to look at exhibits and see other members of the community. My studio is “a place of my own” where I am enlivened with creativity, discovery, and peace. Creation.

Love Letter to Life 03.21.2024 Still Life

Dear Life, Sometimes it is best to focus into a small frame in order to feel stillness within the chaos. There is paradox in nature and Spirit, “the eye of the storm”. I learned this as a child growing up near the ocean. Hurricanes would blow through with enormous wind and suddenly there would be stillness followed again by the force of the storm. When it was over, we would go outside and see what was damaged by the jaws of chaos and what was found untouched. Nature and Spirit continue to teach me this while navigating life.
Be in the frame of stillness. Live through the storm with curious eyes.

Love Letter to Life 03 20.2024 Palette Portrait

Dear Life, The enthusiasm of Spring sprung though my palette portrait painting! This came into being after several hours of painting a still life. I’ll show you that tomorrow. Happy to be feeling physically well and strong. Happy to be in the season of Spring.
Happy to be alive and free. Thank You Life.

Love Letter to Life 03.18.2024 Resume Classes

Dear Life, Woke feeling rested and rejuvenated, ready to return to campus. I tested “negative” for Covid yesterday so I’m no threat to others. I’ll wear a mask to be cautious of not getting any other infections. I did all my “make up” work: a one page paper and a painting. Happy to have a reprieve from cancer treatments. Onward into the day with enthusiasm!
