Love Letter to Life 04.14.2024 Rumble

Dear Life, Yesterday I doubled over in pain while working in my studio. The rumble in my stomach stopped all work. A student friend offered help. Her presence calmed me. After a brief time all was well. I took medication to counteract the side effects of oral chemo med. This scenario was my one of my fears. How do I navigate the realities of cancer treatment while doing my best to go to school and work in the studio. Grateful I made it through the pain and fear with the help of a friend. A moment at a time, a day at a time, I live in grace.

Love Letter to Life 04.11.2024 Golden News

Dear Life, My bloodwork is good so my oncologist made a change in treatment: no injection. Today I have 9 – 2 infusion and then will go to the studio. Installing a new piece in the hallway: large painting and drawing with thin plastic draping behind them. A fellow student, Rocio Rodriguez, is helping. The plastic moves as people walk by. Experimenting. Eclipsing.

Love Letter to Life 04.09.2024 Whether

Dear Life, The weather cannot decide if it’s Spring or Winter. Feels like, looks like, and shouts like a seasonal argument. Oh, I do look forward to warmer days, sunshine, and no wind. Santa Fe upon waking: clouds and 34 degrees. Sun is waiting to make an appearance. I had to express this as a one-off painting. The weather is on my bones! The blood nurses will be in my veins, then to studio. Enjoy this day and everything in it including the weather!

Love Letter to Life 04.08.2024 Personal Eclipse

Dear Life, This is a large piece I painted prior to vacation. I’ve been working on a series, “Portraits”, of smaller abstract drawings and paintings. Today I return to the campus and studio. There’s a field trip to SITE SF this morning. At 11:30am, I will see the eclipse if the clouds clear. Then go to studio. I also begin the course of 14 day oral chemo medication; bloodwork, infusion, and injection later this week. Life Eclipsing.

Love Letter to Life 04.04.2024 Reigning Beauty

Dear Life, torrential rain and 28 mph wind gust didn’t stop us from going to New York City for the Macy’s flower show and shopping! An excellent day with my sister, Arlene Lawrence, and our friend, Michelle Connor. So much fun. Yours truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 03.31.2024 Happy Day

Dear Life, Laurel, my granddaughter, Tracy, my daughter, and I had a wonderful time together on Friday. Today there’s an Easter gathering for 24 family members of which six are under 7 years old. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, games, and a delicious feast. Time to hop and help with the preparations. I am grateful. Happy Easter to everyone!

Yours Truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 03.29.2024 Mother and Daughter

Dear Life, Arlene, my sister, took this photo. We do morph into our mothers: Rosie and I at lunch after going on a shopping spree. Mom has four new outfits. Still styling at 93. Today I have lunch with Tracy, my daughter, and my granddaughter, Laurel. This Easter vacation is filled with beauty and joy. I am doing the Happy Bunny Hop!

Love Letter to Life 03.26.2024 Portrait Wall

Dear Life, These drawings and paintings are up in the studio. They were created in 11 days. Note: It took me a little longer than God who created the world in 7 days.
I will travel tomorrow to CT for an Easter vacation. In some traditions, this is Holy Week. I am on a journey HOME. I go with an open heart, clear mind, and healthy body. Planes, trains, and automobiles will transport me to be with family and friends.
My greatest vehicle is Spirit. I am grateful and happy to be on the ride!
Yours Truly, Pamela Rose
