Love Letter to Life 02.10.2022 No Chemo For Now

Dear Life, I was told by the Clinical Trial Coordinator, “We are holding off on the chemo medication until we see your blood counts on February 21st. Your neutrophils are still too low to take chemo.” I am relieved not to take chemo meds and hoping neutrophils will go up so I feel better. I wrote an advocacy letter requesting to be taken out of chemo group and be put in non-chemo group of clinical trial. Chemo no longer works in my body. Immunotherapy treatments are the best line of defense. Build a stronger immune system and let my warrior body do its thing!

Love Letter to Life 02.08.2022 Good News

Dear Life, I happily received good news on two health fronts: Brain Scan is clear. A relief. White Blood Count went up from 1.41 to 2.40. Normal low-end count is 4.00 so this is an improvement. Neutrophils went up, too. Red Blood Count and Platelets are holding where they were a week ago with no major declines. Feeling better. I am advocating that I remain in clinical trail but in the non-chemo group. I’ll know if that can happen by the end of the week. Quality of life matters. My body is a resilient fighter.

Love Letter to Life 02.07.2022 As The Blood Flows

Dear Life, At noon I go to Cancer Center for blood work in order to see if white blood cell and neutrophil counts have bumped up in the past week. I will also go to X-ray Associates in the same building to see radiologist and go over results of brain scan.
Another day in the life of …

Love Letter to Life 02.05.2022 Crystallized Mornings

Dear Life, With the temperature in the single digits at night, I wake, look out the window and see cars that look like Crystal Palaces. I get my frothed coffee from my warm kitchen and get back into bed where I enjoy the inner journey. My body is happily adjusting to fewer meds and working with my mind visualizing and creating plentiful, healthy, new cells. My Spirit is forever replenishing me with a bountiful Life Force.
I’m ready to bust out from having CABIN FEVER! Warmer days are ahead.

Love Letter to Life 02.04.2022 Brain Scan Day

Dear Life, I’ll be out the door soon for a 9:30-11:00am Brain Scan appointment. We are taking a look at what’s going on in there. Meanwhile, someone forgot to turn up the temperature outside! 10 degrees. Warm up the car and keep my face covered… just like we always have to do. Wear our masks for safety, protection and warmth!

Love Letter to Life 02.03.2022 Chilly Days

Dear Life, Arctic air has settled in for a couple of days. But I heard that Vermont gets -25 degrees days so I’m not going to whine about 3 degrees. The “big snow” expected fizzled into a couple of inches. Sun is shining today. I’m visualizing my immune system generating lots of healthy blood and stem cells needed for a powerful frontline defense against lymphoma. I’m blessed with a strong and resilient body that can’t be thanked enough.
Thank you, thank you, thank you beyond measure.

Love Letter to Life 02.02.2022 Unpredictable Predictions

Dear Life, Snow predictions are unpredictable especially in the high desert. There are many predictions on for today: 4″ – 10″ in the city, much more in the mountains. Let it snow. It’s quite Beautiful. My blood work results are also unpredictable but yesterday’s lows changed up my treatment plan for awhile: No chemo but forward with the immunotherapy. We’re thinking the chemo meds are kicking the hell out of my immune system so we will see if this strong body of mine can build up White Blood Cell and Neutrophil counts in the next week. GO Team GO! I’m hoping for high odds with the snow and WBC/Neutrophils!

Love Letter to Life 02.01.2022 Treatment Day

Dear Life, Round 2 of Immunotherapy is today. Full morning: 10:00 Check-in and appointment with Dr Herbert; 11:00 Chemo Suite for blood draw (8 vials), Immunotherapy infusion, vaccination and observation. Hope to be home by 1:00pm. Chemo medication start today, too, twice a day for 7 days. It’s a load of chemicals. Yesterday’s blood work showed I’m critically anemic so no wonder I’m a sleep monster! But it’s up and out the door early today. Thank you for all the positive thoughts to get me there and through this day.

Love Letter to Life 01.31.2022 Mural at Oscar’s Deli

Dear Life, This mural project was commissioned in 1982 by Lee Papageorge, for Oscar’s Deli, depicting a group of the colorful locals that hung out there on a regular basis. I ate bagels for years as part of my payment. Also became a Papageorge family member. There are so many good memories of living and working in the town of Westport, CT during the 1980’s. Such a vibrant and creative community. Thanks for the good life!
