Dear Life, Arlene’s home burst with “treasures” yesterday. My daughter, Tracy, visited. Arlene’s painting is from a photo taken the day Tracy and I met in 2021, a reunion after 50 years of separation. I was receiving chemotherapy and about to have Stem Cell Transplant for Lymphoma. The “little treasures” are the children of my niece, Kira, and her husband Rich. Meet Noah, DJ, Carolina, and Manny. Our family’s “adoption” stories are too many to be told here but are full of love and blessings. Happy to be “home”.

Dear Life, I am in Annapolis, Maryland visiting a friend for the weekend. After eating Green Curry deliciousness at Morgan’s kitchen table, we toured the historic downtown and harbor. Woke reflecting upon Amelia Island. Pictured here are the owners, Nino and Todd Alexander, Atlantic Contemporary Gallery in downtown Amelia. Loved being in their space while talking about art, music and life. My road trip is an abundant treasure chest of people and places. I am grateful for it all. Today I also honor and bless all the good people who serve as “fathers”.

Love Letter to Life 06.13.2025 A Bit of Heaven

Dear Life, Today I head north to Fayetteville then tomorrow Annapolis where I will visit a friend. Sadly must leave Amelia Island where my body rested and rejuvenated. The beaches are beautiful and “salt water cures everything”. I feel it and I will be back. White Angel, my great car, is my “summer clothes closet”. Get it packed. I’ll take one more walk by the ocean and say, Thank You. My other White Angel, Mom’s prayer card, guides me with protection and love.

Love Letter to Life 06.09.2025 The Boneyard

Dear Life, Yesterday I ate lunch looking over the ocean then went to Boneyard Beach. The hurricanes have uprooted trees, leaving them to be weathered. The heat and humidity by noon is unforgiving. My body needs AC. Walked through a country store then made a quick stop for groceries. I was a couch potato for the afternoon, much needed after the days of travel. Last night went to a 12-step clubhouse. I am grateful to have recovery community wherever I go. After meeting, I walked through the lovely downtown streets enjoying the people and shops. This morning, I am taking my sand chair to a beach near the house. Agenda: swim in the ocean!

Love Letter to Life 07.2025 500 Club

Dear Life, Rolled another 500 miles from Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico and into Tallahassee, FL. Stopped in Mobile Alabama on the gulf for local food at Felix’s Fish Camp and Restaurant. Everyone is welcoming and all smiles when I tell them I am on an epic road trip. Today I reach Amelia Island to be with family friends and put my feet into the Atlantic Ocean. Living the dream and riding the wave of love!

Love Letter to Life 06.06.2025 Open Road

Dear Life, Two days of travel, a thousand miles rolled under the wheels of White Angel from Santa Fe, NM to Wichita Falls, TX where I slept one night and woke to an epic thunderstorm. Fortunately, it cleared by 10:00am. Got back on the road and out of TX, through Louisiana and into Vicksburg, MI. I chose a hotel on the banks of the Mississippi River. This officially marks crossing from the west into the east. Today I travel southeast to the Gulf of Mexico and to the northwest of Florida. Tomorrow I reach my first destination, Amelia Island, FL. Loving Life!

Dear Life, Today I start my summer road trip that will take me east across the country to the Atlantic ocean and north to NY, CT, Maine and beyond. I am feeling excited. My bags are packed and ready to be put into White Angel. I have an art kit and journals to maintain my daily practices of painting and writing. The road calls and my Spirit is happy to answer YES. Here we go. You, my dear friends, are with me!

Dear Life, Up at sunrise to be on early flight to Phoenix where I will visit childhood friend, Esther Kelbaugh, for the weekend. We will enjoy walking and talking, eating and shopping, and dancing with Sting at his concert Sunday. I smile and flow with the joy of living!
