Dear Life, Friends are being displaced due to fires and toxic air in LA. Thousands of people and animals are on the move. The ravages of climate disturbances and war are disrupting so many lives throughout the world. I feel the unrest. I make art and pray. I help how and where I can. I remember to be kind to everyone.

Dear Life, I appreciate the Graphite Energy Portraits as a daily check-in. I see them as I do x-rays and serving the same purpose: an imprint of my-self in a moment in time. I hang the drawings in my studio and after a week can see patterns, intensities, the behaviors of the marks. A musician does this with notes, a writer with words, a dancer with movements. We all do this all day making all our different marks. How are you making your marks today?

Dear Life, Returned to my Santa Fe Community College campus. All is quiet except for a few staff and custodians. Classes begin January 21st but I have access to studio and facilities. I sat and enjoyed my space and work. Good to be there. I walked a few loops throughout the indoor corridors. Baby, it’s cold outside so I’m grateful for the warmth within me, my home, and the college. I did my first “Energy Portrait” of 2025. Hello.

Dear Life, Life is mysterious, the comings and goings of daily life happening while another “reality” plays within me. I am deeply moved by a “beaming face” in my dream that inspires me to awake with joy and gratitude. The flickering of candlelight and a familiar song plays lifting my spirit while I unwrap a gift, “Love Poems From God”. That’s spot-on in my wheelhouse where books and art are my companions. Thank you for the gifts of mystery and meaning-making moments.

Dear Life, Winter Solstice is today and with it comes the daily increasing light within winter darkness. It is a time of reflection to acknowledge the accomplishments of the past year and to release what is no longer needed for the upcoming year.
