Love Letter to Life 04.14.2025 Blood Test

Dear Life, I have blood tests and doctor visit this morning. We continue to track the “health” of my body on a monthly basis. What are the red and white cell counts, platelets, ANC, and overall levels of all my blood/body functions. Whenever tests are on the schedule, there’s a knot in my stomach. Most cancer patients understand this anxiety. No matter how I physically feel, there is the question about what is happening inside of me. I remember to breathe, be in the moment and release the tension.
Acceptance is the key to inner freedom.

Love Letter to Life 04.09.2025 We Are One

Dear Life, I am deeply moved each time I experience the love and care we have for one another, the ability to share our pain and help lighten it as well as increase our joy. This makes life’s challenges not only bearable but valuable. We recognize ourselves in one another and appreciate our vulnerability, our humanity, and our spiritual oneness.
We are not alone. We are one.

Love Letter to Life 03.31.2025 Back to Studio

Dear Life, After a 9 nine-day break, I will go to campus studio, work and begin last 6-weeks of classes. I feel refreshed and ready. Dreamt about painting early this morning. It’s good to have a respite and then return to creative practices with a renewed eye. I’m excited to see what comes through me!

Love Letter to Life 03.25.2025 Remarkable

Dear Life, I am grateful to be in the Santa Fe Community College community. I had the opportunity to display some of my paintings and drawings. Five years ago, worldwide, we were quarantined as the pandemic started. I was in the deep end of chemotherapy and stem cell therapy requiring all my attention and energy. Just 5 years later, look at these Energy Portraits. What a remarkable journey this is to be alive.

Love letter to Life 03.20.2025 Spring Equinox

Dear Life, I welcome Spring with the anticipation of warm temperatures and the earth blossoming. I enjoy organizing my life in seasonal 90 day increments, a day at a time. My intentions for Spring: Maintain my excellent health and well-being, complete this semester’s art classes, work in my campus studio, enjoy the people in my communities, and plan a summer Road Trip. Keep it Simple. Happy Spring everyone!

Love Letter to Life 03.16.2025 Bramble

Dear Life, Brain woke pre-dawn and rolled into a bramble of thoughts. You know what I’m talking about. The existential questions of life and death along side what to eat for breakfast, all of same import. My body has the sense to interrupt the noise by breathing, getting up, turning on the light, reading a spiritual passage, writing a meditation. Focus my thoughts. Definition of bramble: any of a genus of usually prickly shrubs of the rose family, i.e. of the Pamela Rose variety!

Love Letter to Life 03.13.2025 Good Report

Dear Life, My oncologist warned me that he didn’t think the PetScan report would be good. The radiologist had not called. I waited 10 minutes that felt like an eternity while the doctor spoke to radiology. “Your PetScan report is good. I am surprised.” Tears brimmed my eyes in joy. I’ve had no chemo drugs for 8 months. This is unusual for a Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma patient. Treatment started in 2020 and has been non-stop until August 2024. I knew my body needed time to heal in order to continue treatments so I asked for a break from “heavy toxins” having had Stem Cell replacement, clinical trials, chemo, immunotherapy and more. My body is regenerating and renewing. Consensus is: “It is shocking”. I think it is another miracle! Grateful and in joy.

Dear Life, I had mild cold symptoms on Sunday so I took a Covid test Monday: positive. Whah! I have slept a lot. Woke feeling better today. Need to rest and quarantine a few days then wear a mask for another five days. I can work at home. Monday is bloodwork and PetScan. Be ready to tube it!
