Love Letter to Life 02.11.2025 Normal Range

Dear Life, Blood results are in normal range and I am no longer anemic. This is a benchmark. I’ve been anemic since November 2018. Cancer patients live with multiple tests and scans and the question of what is next in terms of treatment. March 10th is next PetScan. I ate Rice Pudding with Whipped Cream to celebrate “normal”.
I affirm: “Don’t be afraid to spread your wings over the world”.
I am grateful for the artists Suleika Jaouad and Jon Batiste who show us how brilliantly to live our dreams.

Love Letter to Life 02.09.2025 Waking Anew

Dear Life, How is it that I can go to sleep convinced I cannot meet my goals and then wake up thinking, “You can do this”. My thoughts are changeable especially at different hours of the day. After a decent night of sleep, the challenges of life and living with cancer diminish. Believing in my heart’s desires feel within reach. I remember to trust, believe, perceive and receive. Everything I need is here for me through Universal Delivery. And my hands and feet go into action!

Love Letter to Life 02.07.2025 New Materials

Dear Life, New set of Japanese watercolors and paintbrushes arrived while I was driving through the northern New Mexico mountains in Angel Fire. Today I begin Major Projects class with artist, Brie Ruais, and work with the new materials and emerging ideas. My daily practice of creativity connects me to the greater whole of life, within me and all around me. Happy to be alive and an artist/writer.

A detail from my 2025 Vision Board

Love Letter to Life 02.05.25 Vision Board

Dear Life, This Vision Board is my “Runway” into 2025, visualizing and affirming my goals and dreams. Highly recommend to everyone the creative process and power of “visioning”. I had so much delight making it in Creative Expressions class and satisfaction propping it up at home where I can see both sides. Get out your magazines, paint, color markers, scissors, glue stick, cardboard, and have at it!

Love Letter to Life 02.04.2025 New Experiences.

Dear Life, I am having new experiences with people, places and things. I acknowledge that each day is a new, never lived before or to be lived again. I affirm being present and entering into the day with an open mind and heart, curious eyes and ears, and willing hands and feet to go where inspiration and intuition lead. This way of living allows my spirit to guide me. That puts a smile in and on me. Here I go into the “adventure” with gratitude.

Tempera Painting with Graphite Drawing

Love Letter to Life 02.01.2025 Tangles

Dear Life, What tangles your life? What runs you around the block a few times? What uplifts or brings you down? What is happening here? I love that my drawings ask me questions and give momentary imprints of my energy. I felt tangled up during a crowded student lunch. Too many conversations going on at the same time. The drawing reflected it. I know I enjoy quieter spaces with meaningful conversations that uplift, enjoy laughter, connect with the heart. Drawn and Noted.

Love Letter to Life 01.20.2025 Waking Waves

Dear Life, Woke to winter waving through the bedroom window. Snow lines the limbs of trees, adobe walls, earth blanketed, mountains obscured by dense clouds. 20 degrees. I wake slowly. My senses begin a tick-off list: hear sounds of heat coming from forced-water baseboards, my eyes detect the darkness or light, my skin feels the warmth of soft bedding. Murmuring thoughts signal the body to move upright and I find my way into the kitchen to push the coffee pot button. Thank you Life for lifting me into this new day and all it holds.

Love Letter to Life 01.28.2025 Hand and Heart

Dear Life, Happy to be held by a hand and heart of beautiful flowers while visiting with Esther in AZ. We laughed and walked and talked and “went wild” the way good friends hold one another with love. I’m excited that she will be setting up an “art table” to begin a Vision Board collage project. That’s what I’ll be doing today in my Creative Expressions class. Here we go into 2025 with love, creativity, imagination, and community!

Love Letter to Life 01.24.2025 Girls Go Wild

Dear Life, After 2024, a childhood friend, Esther Kelbaugh, and I decided to meet up in Phoenix and have a Girls Go Wild weekend. This included a Sting concert, but unfortunately, he is under the weather (please send him healing vides, friends) so concert is postponed until June. I am still getting on a plane today and the girls will celebrate life. Each day is a gift and friends are a blessing. Another plus: leaving an arctic 16 degrees for a sunny 66. Love warms the day!
