Love Letter to Life 11.20.2025 Studio Photos

Dear Life, Here are two walls of the studio. Work is happening on a daily basis: collage, painting, drawing, experimenting with transfers of prints to canvas. And a corner near the big window is a growing Vision Board. I am grateful to have this studio in the Santa Fe Community College art department. I enjoy the students and staff, our visits and classes. Inspirational.

Love Letter to Life 11.16.2025 Hope

Dear Life, As I prayed for guidance at daybreak, my eyes fell upon the word HOPE, 8 feet away on a bookshelf in my bedroom. I got up and retrieved the volume: “The Book of Hope, A Survival Guide for Trying Times” by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams, 2021.
“Hope is contagious. Your actions will inspire others. It is my sincere desire that this book will help you find solace in a time of anguish, direction in a time of uncertainty, courage in a time of fear. We invite you to join us on this journey toward hope.”

Love Letter to Life 11.13.2025 Evolve

Dear Life, Woke before sunrise. Bloodwork yesterday was overall good but showed a “slight inflammation of the liver”. No answer as to why. So I will have bloodwork again in a month. Not an emergency but my brain sounded alarms. I have the tools to quiet my mind after years of practice: prayer and meditation. And if it is dark, turn the light on. The monsters leave the room. I gratefully saw the soft pink beauty of sunrise.

Love Letter to Life 11.11.2025 Remember

Dear Life, I worked with Virginia Dwan, the legendary art dealer and visionary, on her personal project documenting graves in military cemeteries throughout the United States: Flowers, 100 photographs on 144 pages in a foldout book. The only text is Pete Seeger’s question, “Where have all the flowers gone?”
Today I honor Virginia and all who rest in peace.

Love Letter to Love 11.05.2025 What’s Shaken’

Dear Life, “Keep your head up, shoulders back, and lipstick on”. A wise woman told me this long ago. And I add, keep a pretty dress ready. You never know what’s gonna shake out from above.

Dear Life, What are the connections in my life? Past and Present? Am I living a purposeful and meaningful life?

Love Letter to Life 11.02.2025 Discoveries

Dear Life, I read inspirational writings in the morning to remind my thoughts of a greater intelligence: Spirit. This helps me be conscious of my words and actions throughout the day. Like all humans, I have a dark thread that can get tangled up in negativity. When this happens, I pause, discover the cause, and discard the thoughts. It helps to have some humor. When something says BOO in the dark, my light shines and says I AM BIGGER THAN YOU!

Love Letter to Life 10.31.2025 I Can

Dear Life, I showed my studio and work to an artist friend yesterday, saying, “The project, INSIDE-OUT, is scary and brave”. Making transfers of my x-rays onto canvas, painting, drawing and collaging images that represent my body; it is certainly a different wheelhouse for me. Only now, a year out from 4 years of cancer treatments, can I begin to process this. Thankfully I can.

Love Letter to Life 10.26.2025 Under the Skin

Dear Life, Sometimes we have to look closer to see something, visually and emotionally. I used tracing paper to draw the muscular system of the face. Then painted a facial abstraction and placed it under the tracing. My project INSIDE-OUT continues to explore my body and the narrative, living and healing from the inside out. Each day I discover something new. There are a lot of muscular highways in my head!
