Love Letter to Life 11.21.2023 Plans Change

Dear Life, ‘Tis the season of well-made plans. Blue Angel was serviced, bags packed, and gifts ready to go. But my friend in AZ called and unfortunately has a respiratory virus so we had to cancel our Thanksgiving visit. She is resting and taking medication. May she feel well soon. I’ve been regrouping and unpacking. Living has taught me many lessons including GO WITH THE FLOW and BE HERE NOW. I am grateful for my Santa Fe friends offering me a seat at their holiday tables. Thank you. Everyone, please take care of yourselves, have a safe Holiday, and share the love!

Love Letter to Life 11.15.2023 Mystery Seeds

Dear Life, Cancer treatment continues each month. Day 12 of 14 oral chemo med and oncologist appointment today. Bloodwork yesterday. Infusion tomorrow and injection on Friday. This current combination of drugs is working. Why? It’s a mystery, one I am grateful to be experiencing. Acceptance and a positive attitude are key to living a happy and free life. I am not a captive of cancer. I am a temporary host. My Life Force is strong and my Spirit engaged with the many gifts in my life. Road Trip to visit friends is about to happen. Thank You.

Love Letter to Life 11.11.2023 Veteran’s Day

Dear Life, I had the privilege of being a friend and working with Virginia Dwan for many decades including her book project, FLOWERS, photographing Veteran National Cemeteries throughout the country. Virginia’s vision expanded beyond the art world into the concerns of humanity and the earth. She died in September 2022 and I miss her.
I honor her and all who have been in service to others.
Yours Truly, Pamela Rose

Love Letter to Life 11.09.2023 Wonder Walks

Dear Life, What is it about New Mexico and old trucks! I enjoy the homes, studios, properties, people, and vehicles that live throughout NM. This photo was taken Sunday in Dixon. Yesterday I went to OJO Santa Fe, a beautiful resort 14 miles southwest of my house. While “wonder” walking and talking to staff, the Ambassador of the property made me an offer. “You’re great with people. Come work with us.” Felt good to be wanted!

Love Letter to Life 11.06.2023 Dixon Studio Tour

Dear Life, Weather, road trip, and beautiful northern NM were perfect. The small town of Dixon, NM attracts a variety of creatives. On the first weekend of November they open their doors for visitors. It’s the longest continually running Studio Tour in NM celebrating 42 years. Virginia King and I enjoyed artists and their work. Inspiration is everywhere including the Dixon CO-OP!

Love Letter to Life 11.03.2023 Art Classes

Dear Life, My first higher education degree was an Associates of Fine Arts from Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Ct. Here I am in 1975 being photographed by another student, my would-be boyfriend. I enjoyed the classes, the community, and the boyfriend. This began my career as an artist. Today I meet with the head of Fine Arts Department at Santa Fe Community College to discuss his Advanced Projects Drawing and Painting Classes. Hoping to get a studio space. Looking forward to a new experience in a new community. I’m a bit older but still have that creative smile. Wish I still had the hat!

Love Letter to Life 11.02.2023 Day of the Dead

Dear Life, “El Dia de los Muertos goes back to the Aztecs, who had not just a few days but an entire month dedicated to the dead. Festivities were presided over by the goddess Mictecacihuatl. The annual rite features skeletons, altars and other trappings of death, but the ancient holiday celebrates life in its embrace of death.” I remember and honor my loved ones who have passed and celebrate life as it is today.

Love Letter to Life 10.31.2023 Happy Halloween!

Dear Life, My 93 year-old mother, Rosie, and her caregiver, Ana, were up and out “Tricking and Treating” as Rock Stars at 8:00am! So if you’ve ever wondered where I get my indomitable Life Force, in part, it’s inherited from the DNA of Rosie who keeps on rockin’. You gotta love her. Hope this put a smile on you!

Love Letter to Life 10.24.2023 My Flamenco Familia

Dear Life, My dear friends, Jerry and Sari Lopez, are in town. I found myself in their backseat with Juan Jose Alba and Fernando “Trini” Trinidad, musical masters of Flamenco from Spain performing in Santa Fe. We listened to amazing music while the wheels rolled into Tesuque for lunch then Chimayo Santuario. A prayer was written by my friend for me and put on the altar. Tears of gratitude glistened in all our eyes. Then to top off the afternoon, Juan played Jerry’s flamenco guitar. I was reminded, this is the way my life rolls with incredible friends, love and freedom. Thank You.
Yours Truly, Pamela Rose
