Dear Life, I am thoroughly enjoying the quiet, waking early, feeling regenerated after a deep sleep and curious about life. The past week of cancer treatments is thankfully complete. I also met with an advisor at the Santa Fe Community College to discuss enrolling in art classes this winter. It is a premier campus with ample studio space for their art programs. I have a BFA and Masters in Education but the time feels right to join an academic and creative community. The door is open for new experiences!

Dear Life, 10/17 Tue: Day 12 Oral chemo med and bloodwork. 10/18 Wed: Day 13 Oral chemo med and appointment with oncologist. 10/19 Thur: Day 14 Oral chemo med and 9:00-2:00 Infusion. 10/20 Fri: 11:00 am White Blood booster injection. This is the treatment drill each and every month until a “cure” comes around. Thank you friends for thinking of me and everyone dealing with chronic and fatal diseases.

Dear Life, After moving to Santa Fe in 1991 from NYC and living in the Will Shuster Compound for a year, I found a studio in the south end of town in a converted warehouse. The Yucca drive-in theater was across the parking lot. Rent was cheap plus I could set up a lounge chair to watch movies after sunset. What a deal! Good memories. Recently, a friend said to me, “Pamela, you have good real estate karma”. I am hoping to make new memories in a new studio, and remember, I am more than a cancer patient. Still looking.

Dear Life, I began my enthusiastic search for a painting studio 72 hours ago. Guess what? Studio rentals are few and way up in price. Pamela Rose got a big wake-up call. I looked at spaces with hopes of finding that “perfect place” that I can afford. Wanted to jump into a few deals but they were well-outside my financial comfort zone. Breathe and know, the right space at the right price will come. A couple weeks ago, I was leaning on a fence with friends enjoying a Sunday afternoon. I need to relax. It’s a beautiful Sunday!

Dear Life, It occurred to me this morning that I need a studio space; a place I can go outside of my home to work, splash around in the unknown and leave everything out in artistic disarray. My apartment is great for daily living but not for making large artwork and projects that I have in my heart to do. If you know of a space for rent in town or not too far out of town, please contact me. I am ready for a new creative journey.

Dear Life, I enjoyed the Turquoise Trail Studio Tour. Came home with this Oil Painting on Cigar Box lined with rolled Tobacco. Looks and smells good! Chipmunk caught my eye amongst all the beautiful, large animal paintings. It was love at first sight. Couldn’t leave without him. Dear Life, This is the season of Artist Studio Tours in Northern New Mexico. Last weekend, on the HIgh Road Studio Tour, I met a gifted artist, Tomas Montano, and purchased a print. This weekend is the Turquoise Trail Studio Tour. I’m going tomorrow. October and November, there are several more tours including the one in Galisteo, where I use to live and exhibit.
