Dear Life, The PetScan shows cancer grew and spread. The Lymphoma cells are smart. They figure out what/where the drugs are then grow and spread. I am no longer on the Clinical Trial. Will begin new drugs in two weeks that will hopefully outsmart the cancer. I’ll take an oral medication everyday for three weeks then have a week off. Receive an infusion once a month. Repeat. The goal is to live well daily. I feel physically good. This is a new stretch in a long journey. Thank you for all the positive vibes and prayers.

Dear Life, Today I meet with my oncologist at 3:45pm to discuss Petscan report and bloodwork, prognosis and treatment. I will remember this: Whatever I hear is heard best when I listen with the soft corners of my heart. All your prayers and making art help relieve the sharp edges of anxiety. Thank you.

Miniature Watercolors

Dear Life, I started 2023 at the art table, painting in watercolor, collaging, and writing art-poems. Also cooked a healthy meal: Veggies /Tofu after eating leftover pizza for lunch. Ah, the endings and beginnings of the New Year! Today I call new cancer center to find out when my appointments for bloodwork, treatments, and to discuss Petscan with oncologist. The work of sobriety, creativity, health and treating cancer continues daily. All is good.

Dear Life, I will drive another 800 miles to sit at Chez Pierre with Marilyn and Sandy to eat my favorite dessert. A perfect wrap up for an amazing 2022: Patient #1 in Phase Two of an Immunotherapy Clinical Trial that is helping me live “well” with cancer; hopefully will cure. Happy vacations with family and friends, including my beautiful daughter Tracy. Writing Love Letters and making art. Completions and new beginnings. My Life Force carries me in grace and guides me with love. Thank you for everything.

Dear Life, These pics were recently sent to me from BF Jay Dee. We were at Souen (now defunct fave eatery) in NYC on 12.30.19. Whatever was on our IPhones was of great interest! We’ve had an enduring friendship since 1987 finding its roots in Brooklyn, NYC and growing over the decades. I’m grateful for my friendships and the “memory banks” of our electronic devices.

Dear Life, I arrived home yesterday after a wonderful road trip. Unpacked, grocery shopped, did laundry and ate dinner in front of the TV: Enchiladas with Red and Green from La Choza. This morning the sound of sleet and snow woke me. A distant cry from the sun and 76 degrees in CA! Toes (and the rest of me) are comfy and happy to stay in and have a quiet day. Rest, rejuvenate, remember 2022 year’s end ritual. Grateful to be alive.

Dear Life, I have had a wonderful and new experience of Christmas with my friends Marilyn and Sandy MacGregor in the CA desert. They gave me the red carpet treatment! Thank you! Today, I fire up Blue Angel and head towards Santa Fe. Hopefully, I will get a room in Winslow, AZ at La Posada Hotel. With luck, there will be a cancellation so there can be a bed at the inn for me. Sending out Hotel Angels before me. It’s a Road Trip Day!
