Love Letter to Life 12.07.2025 My Yang Portrait

Dear Life, In the final days of Contemporary Figurative Painting class, I put my brush into black and white paint. This, and three other portraits, completed the Inside-Out Project with a stroke of genius I do not call my own. I went into that “zone” that resides within every artist, and outside their comfort zone. The creative process has a way of surprising, again and again. Let’s face it, art is a mysterious thing.

Love Letter to Life 12.03.2025 Wall of Work

Dear Life, Hung twenty pieces of my current work for a critique: paintings, collages, drawings, and transfers. The Inside-Out project speaks to the cancer journey I have been on for five years. My paintings inspired by Chagall’s Daphnis and Chloe lithographs, reflect my romantic Spirit, rising up as I experience better health. The work demonstrates the breadth, depth, and range of my creative abilities. I have processed a lot of feelings in the past 3 months. Thank you for being with me.

Love Letter to Life 12.01.2025 Transitions

Dear Life, December arrives with cool temps signaling seasonal change. The end of Contemporary Painting class is this week. Twenty pieces of my work will be seen, a combination of the Inside-Out project and paintings inspired by the work of Chagall. The piece shown here is the “transition” bringing the two worlds together: history meets present. More to be revealed. Stay tuned!

Love Letter to Life 11.29.19 Expect Miracles (Reposted)

Dear Life, The days leading up to Solstice lose a little light while the darkness grows longer. My heart’s desire and gratitude deepen in this twilight of mystical stirrings. I have candles lit 24 hours. It is the season of Lights.
Hope holds out her hand and says, “Expect Miracles”. I do.

Love Letter to Life 11.20.2025 Studio Photos

Dear Life, Here are two walls of the studio. Work is happening on a daily basis: collage, painting, drawing, experimenting with transfers of prints to canvas. And a corner near the big window is a growing Vision Board. I am grateful to have this studio in the Santa Fe Community College art department. I enjoy the students and staff, our visits and classes. Inspirational.

Love Letter to Life 11.16.2025 Hope

Dear Life, As I prayed for guidance at daybreak, my eyes fell upon the word HOPE, 8 feet away on a bookshelf in my bedroom. I got up and retrieved the volume: “The Book of Hope, A Survival Guide for Trying Times” by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams, 2021.
“Hope is contagious. Your actions will inspire others. It is my sincere desire that this book will help you find solace in a time of anguish, direction in a time of uncertainty, courage in a time of fear. We invite you to join us on this journey toward hope.”

Love Letter to Life 11.13.2025 Evolve

Dear Life, Woke before sunrise. Bloodwork yesterday was overall good but showed a “slight inflammation of the liver”. No answer as to why. So I will have bloodwork again in a month. Not an emergency but my brain sounded alarms. I have the tools to quiet my mind after years of practice: prayer and meditation. And if it is dark, turn the light on. The monsters leave the room. I gratefully saw the soft pink beauty of sunrise.

Love Letter to Life 11.11.2025 Remember

Dear Life, I worked with Virginia Dwan, the legendary art dealer and visionary, on her personal project documenting graves in military cemeteries throughout the United States: Flowers, 100 photographs on 144 pages in a foldout book. The only text is Pete Seeger’s question, “Where have all the flowers gone?”
Today I honor Virginia and all who rest in peace.
