Dear Life, This is the cover of an inspirational book my sister made for loved ones. It inspires me everyday. Cancer feels overwhelming. Life turning upside down. However, there are messages and blessings, life happening in miraculous ways, like two doves showing up on my terrace to do a happy dance for me while a friend talked me through fears and tears. Yes, miracles are real and Spirit is working through all of you and doves.

Dear Life, I received a platelet infusion yesterday because my body needs other people’s blood for a boost. I felt an Angel next to me while I sat in the hospital. My father passed from this world in July 2014 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He went through it with strength, grace, and love. Now he whispers to me, “You can do this”.

Dear Life, The first strands of my new, thick, wavy hair fell out this morning. I feel like screaming, crying, running. One of the side effects of chemotherapy is hair loss. I went through this last year. And it begins again. There are many losses with cancer. A cancer therapist is helping me with grief and acceptance. I am powerless over cancer and my life is forever changed. I am grateful there is a Higher Power that I can lean into big time right now. I lean into love. I lean into your strength and support.

Dear Life, Blood results indicated platelet level too low for chemo so I will have a platelet infusion on Wednesday. Need to get my body stronger. Chemo/treatments in-patient will be in 2-3 weeks depending on blood results. Pet scan will follow and indicate if I go to Denver Hospital for Stem Cell Therapy in June. I felt my anxiety level rise high as blood results came in low and plans changed. Fortunately, there were Angels in the room, Dr.Snyder and Olivia. They walked me off the ledge. Thank you Angels and everyone for all your prayers.

Dear Life, I woke from a dream smiling and feeling good. I remember these details: packing for the hospital and trusting the medical professionals that help me. I’m grateful my unconscious is messaging positive vibes. Bloodwork and Dr. Snyder at 10:00. Then brunch with dear Olivia at Madame Matisse. Begin counseling with Cancer Center Therapist at 4:00. Feeling Grateful. Have a beautiful day, friends.

Dear Friends, Round One of chemo complete. Side effects are being managed by medications, although weird stuff needs medical attention like my finger has a big sore so need to go to urgent care today. I see oncologist tomorrow. Round Two treatment is Tuesday – Thursday in-patient hospital with 24/7 chemo/meds/hydration. I will have 10 days, respite at home for rest and recovery. Then Round Three in the hospital. Anemia is a side effect so my energy is bumpy. However, I feel a strong life force and all your love. Thank you for the ongoing support.

Dear Life, I am becoming an early riser. Mind wants to jump into the topics of cancer and treatments. I re-direct it with meditation, listening to the pre-dawn bird chorus and watching the glow of day begin. I exercise as the coffee brews. Movement is key to my health. Family and friends are key to my well-being. Living every moment is the gift of life.

Dear Life, In 1991, Tom and Jane Larsen, invited me to live on their property, The Will Shuster Compound, Santa Fe, NM and thus began my 30 plus year love affair with the Southwest, my Soul’s Home. Their daughter, Lisa, is a bestie for 34 years. My life in NM began surrounded with the high desert, mountains, vast sky, art, the Larsen family, and the playful ghost of Shuster. I lived in his studio. He’s a trickster! And helped me paint damn good landscapes and symbol drawings. A shout out of joy to everyone today, far and near.
